Nikki's new career at her best!

Yesterday one of Nikki's new piano students (mom Hills) was over to take her weekly lesson. The photos depict Nikki in her element. I have had the chance a few times to witness her with her favorite teaching tools (not shown in photos for censoring purposes)...the yardstick! Ok, for those of you who know Nikki, she would not be caught dead with a yardstick while teaching. She is an excellent teacher who teaches with much love, patience, persistence, dedication and motivation. I believe she is up to seven (7) or eight (8) students now; I am very excited to see where this new chapter of teaching career takes her.

This Thurs. (Nov. 1st) she will be performing at my dads grand opening for his office. Perhaps I will be able to take a few photos, and perhaps videos to post by next weekend. Hope this post finds you all well.

JC Penny photos of Lincoln

Just a heads-up...this is the first post by Zach. A few weeks ago, Nikki took Lincoln to get "professional" photos taken at JC Penny. After a few weeks of waiting for them to print, we were finally able to pick them up. Enjoy!

* Notice in the 2nd picture- the blanket is one that Great-grandma Linck made.

Trick or Treat

Lincoln had his first Trick-or-Treat experience today. The Rec center close to our home was having a trick-or-treat food drive so some other moms and I went. The price to get in was 2 cans of food per child. Lincoln didn't really care about the candy, but he seemed to enjoy looking at all the other kids. If you're having a hard time telling, Lincoln's a tomato- although he probably looks more like an overripe tomato because he's not very round.

A Dozen Questions (that I’m finally getting around to)

It took me long enough, but I'm finally responding to Adrianne's tag.

  1. What was I doing 10 years ago: I was a high school Junior in the middle of Cross Country Season, probably out running in the desert at this time of day or maybe even at a meet with my friend Teresa and sister Tammi, among others. I was also working at the Desert Princess Lake Mead Cruises restaurant as a waitress.
  2. Five years ago: I was living in Provo, Utah as a senior at BYU. I was doing my cooperative teaching in Heber, UT and working the the BYU telefund- something that was a bit scary for me. I lived with Adrianne, Ruth, and Phoebe and was beginning to think about where I wanted to end up teaching.
  3. One year ago: I was getting used to life in our new home and new ward. I was teaching 2nd grade at Paradise ES- learning that I loved it there! I was also beginning to realize that I was pregnant because I was starting to crave weird things and have a need to eat a little more frequently. (We never took a pregnancy test- we just figured all the symptoms had to mean pregnancy and sure enough they did.)
  4. Yesterday: I visited one of my visiting teachees, taught a piano lesson, had FHE and practice the piano a little.
  5. 5 snacks I enjoy: granola (my new favorite), grapes, yogurt, any other kind of fruit, triscuits and cottage cheese
  6. 5 things I would do if I suddenly had $100 million: Hmmm… buy land, build a dream home, set up college accounts for each of our children, invest(Zach would have to do that b/c I know very little about investing), vacation.
  7. 5 locations I would like to run away to: Hawaii, The Mediterranean, Costa Rica, Cancun, anywhere with Zach and Lincoln.
  8. 5 bad habits I have: I leave my music scattered all around the piano when I practice. When I get on the phone with someone and I have a purpose for calling, I'll usually forget to ask how they're doing(I'm very one-track minded). When I go shopping- it takes me an extremely long time to make a purchase because I change my mind back and forth about a million times. I clip my fingernails in the bathroom and often leave the clippings in the sink. It takes me a long time to get back to someone when they leave a message for me (sorry if it's happened to you).
  9. 5 things I like doing: reading, playing the piano, jogging in good weather, teaching children , playing with family
  10. 5 TV shows I like: this is a tough one because we don't have TV, but when I go to my parent's house I like to watch: Design on a Dime, Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals, Divine Design, whatever is on HGTV. I know that's not 5, but it's amazing that I could come up with that many.
  11. 5 things I hate doing: cleaning the kitchen sink, mopping the floors in our house, going shopping anywhere that has a salesperson that might pressure me into buying something, nagging piano students on their payment when they're late, being the center of attention(Hate is too strong of a word for this one, but it does make me feel pretty uncomfortable).
  12. 5 biggest joys of the moment: Zach, Lincoln, a good piano day, beautiful weather and finally completing another blog.

People I tag: anyone who wants to answer these questions, Dallas, Tim, Camrin

I'm Sorry

I've been away so long and it's really because every time I sit down to blog I feel guilty, thinking that I should be practicing the piano instead. Well, it's getting a bit ridiculous how long it's been since I last blogged that I decided I'd do a quick one.
So here's a little update on us. Over conference weekend we had some fun with the Hills up in Logandale and Mesquite. Lincoln experienced Grandma Hills' jumper for the first time and spent time in front of the camera with his cute cousins James and Emery.

Okay, so maybe I'm not supposed to be blogging right now because I can't get a picture to post. I guess there won't be any pictures with this post. I'll have to send some later, but I'm going to submit this post anyway because I don't want to feel like I've wasted my time right now.

A little more on us... Zach's busy with work, church callings, school and us. They seem to be giving him more and more responsibilities all the time at his workplace and he really seems to be enjoying it.
I'm busy with being a mom, piano teaching, piano practicing, and primary.
Lincoln continues to be a sweetie. He's still drooling like crazy all the time- but no teeth yet.
Well, that's a little update on us. Things are good and we're happy.
Again, sorry there are no pictures, I'll have to try again later.
