Birthday Party in Annabella

Saturday, after leaving Duck Creek, we headed up I-89 to Annabella and Zach's family. When we got there, things were under way for a birthday party for Lincoln since it was his Birthday that very day. Tim made an awesome Birthday cake (after seeing what he'd made for Emery's birthday, I was pretty excited about what he had in store for Lincoln and I wasn't disappointed- What must it be like to have such talent?).

We had the best spaghetti I've ever had- made by Jodi. (She used some of the bottles of spaghetti sauce she had made last year from her amazing garden). Then we went outside for Lincoln to open his gifts and dig into his cake (literally).

His cousin Emery even got in to help him with his cake, but she's a girl and thus much cleaner than Lincoln.

Duck Creek

Last Thursday, we headed up to Cedar then up to Duck Creek for a short camping stop. I love it up there. I have so many good memories of that place. Thursday night we slept at Dallas and Tim's place before heading up Friday morning. I woke up at 5:00am Friday morning and couldn't go back to sleep because I was so excited about getting up into the mountains. Here are just a few pics of that part of the trip.

While up there for just one day, we fit in a hike, dutch oven dinner, campfire, and lots of visiting with family. It was great!

Lincoln 1 year

Lincoln's Birthday is on Saturday, but we'll be out of town so I thought I would put this post up now. After this post, I'll try to post about something other than Lincoln- since that's pretty much all I ever post about.
What Lincoln is able to do these days:
He started walking at about the beginning of May (10 months old) but didn't get any good at it until later on in the month.
Now that he's walking pretty good, he is everywhere- I suppose that means he's a toddler?
He loves to pull all my utensils out of a drawer he can't even see into. Actually, he loves to pull anything out of any drawer he can get into.
He loves being outside and has started eating potato bugs(rolley poleys?)The first time he did it, I tried to get it out of his mouth, thinking it was a leaf or something. When I realized what it was, I was pretty grossed out, but still tried to get it out of his mouth until he bit into it and I decided he could have it at that point. The second time occurred when I was cutting Zach's hair outside. Zach thought it would be funny to point them out to Lincoln and see if he would eat one again- sure enough, he did. This time I got a picture.

Lincoln also seems to love studying the mechanics of things. We took him on a four wheeler ride on Saturday and while he was sitting up front, instead of looking at the road and sights in front of him, he was studying/playing with the instrumentation of the four-wheeler. This was all he did for the hour-long ride, until he fell asleep.
Lincoln has also learned how to sneak into the pantry and find the vanilla wafers. This happened while Zach and I were cleaning up after Lunch on Sunday. We didn't even notice until he had a few in his mouth- even though he was right behind us.

Generally, Lincoln is a very curious, and healthy little boy and we love him very, very, very, very... much!

June Birthdays

Last Sunday night my family(the Shamo's) met together for the monthly dinner and had a combined birthday party for all the June birthdays. There were quite a few people to celebrate: Dad, Tana, Lincoln, and Christian(his is at the end of May). Everyone was so generous. Here are just a few pics of Lincoln using some of his new gifts. Thanks everyone!

Summer Haircut

Well, it was time for his first real haircut. It's pretty short and some times I have a few misgivings about it because his hair was so soft and cute, but he's much cooler this way and it'll grow back. I think we cut off about 2 1/2 inches of his hair at some places, it really had gotten long.
I love that I don't have to do anything to Lincoln's hair- unlike if I had a girl. If I ever have a girl, I'll feel so bad for her because I have no hair-doing abilities.
Here are some before and after shots:
