March 2019

Caught these cuties playing with their imaginations outside.  Gwen had concocted some sort of potion that she was feeding to West.   Nyle found his own hammer for the nail and board.

Zach and I celebrated 13 years of marriage with a bit of a family birthday party complete with cake cutting.  Lincoln snapped these pictures for us.  I can hardly believe it has been 13 years already.  It just keeps getting better and better each year!

It's time for the St. Patrick's Day baby's birthday!

His birthday was on a Sunday and we enjoyed Grasshopper Shakes as his birthday dessert.  I'm learning that very few of my children prefer a birthday cake for their birthday dessert.

The kids all had fun finding or making a birthday gift for West.

Stepping stones--good for everyone!

Some fun facts about 4-year old West:

  • He's rather social and loves our play date exchange that we do with 3 other families.  Every Monday and Wednesday he would have the opportunity to play with his friends.  He got to where he would always ask if "today was a playdate" because he was eager to play.
  • He's eager to learn and do everything his older siblings do, wanting to learn his letters and sounds.
  • He is a good worker and loves to be out helping Zach when he's home on the weekends.
  • He's a good little bike rider... often begging me to go for rides with him around the block.
  • He gives great hugs and kisses.  Every night, our tuck-in routine includes me helping him say his prayer, then a hug, a kiss from him on both of my cheeks, then a better hug with him sitting up, then I give him a kiss.  As I walk out of the room he always says "don't let any bugs get in your bed, good night, I love you."  If I don't respond with "good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite, I love you", he calls to me and repeats his whole phrase until I recognize his.
  • He is my buddy every day and I sure love him!

Our family outing for West's birthday was to go to Red Rock for some hiking.  Since we had an unseasonably cool Winter, the canyon was still a bit cool and Zach wasn't prepared.  Luckily he had these scrubs in the back of the Odyssey for emergencies.

There was lots of Water and while we were too early for the desert blooming flowers, we still enjoyed a lot of green vegetation.

Ned's turn to be recognized as his class' Super Star

Nyle's kindergarten teacher asked if I would help the kindergartners by making some vests for their Square Dance.  After enlisting the help of the Young Women in cutting out the vests from the pattern, and then asking my mom if I could use her serger, I was able to serge/sew 100 vests.  It was fun for me to learn how to use the serger and sewing 100 vests was great practice!

February 2019

We had to get out of the house one day when there was no school so we headed to the "Tinker Bell" park to go for a hike and enjoy the beautiful cloudy weather.  I believe the boys might have been fighting a bit too much so I decided they needed an energy outlet.  Boys just need to be outside at least once daily, I've decided.

Nyle's turn to receive another AR award, I believe this is his second for the year.

I love how Zach reads to the kids.  They're always piled up and he lays the drama on thick! Oh, and the boys prefer as few clothes as possible when they go to bed...usually just underwear.

Gwen is our Super Writer...which makes sense considering how much she reads!

The fun run--it's a school fundraiser.  My kids absolutely loved it!  Maybe they'll be runners like me? It was so fun watching these cute kindergartner's run... and they RAN!  I was impressed with their endurance!

Ned in line to begin running.

Gwen walking the first lap, which was required.

February was a big month for Ned.  He was baptized on President's Day Weekend.  We were concerned that since it was a holiday, not very many people would be around to attend, but the opposite was true... family came into town for his baptism.  It was a great day and Ned was so prepared.  He wanted us to grill  him over and over on the baptism questions that he might get asked at his Bishop's interview.  When the interview came, we asked him how he did and with some disappointment, he told us that the Bishop didn't even ask him one question! 😂

We actually got some snow! Not much, since we are likely the lowest neighborhood in the whole valley, but we'll take it! Don't mind the backyard mess... we were heavy in the middle of improvements at the time.

Little cheerleading Gwenny!
