July took us up to Utah County and hiking in the Alpine Loop. We went on several hikes, including Scout Falls hike and of course to see Angel Falls. The kids did great on the various hikes all in one day and I loved seeing all the green. It was warm, but so beautiful!

We also were invited out to Lake Mead on a couple occassions. We met all of Zach's family out there Memorial Day Weekend. The kids tubed on Jodi and Chris' boat. They also took turns paddling boarding and kayaking on Dallas and Tim's fun toys.
Later in the Summer we joined Zach's HS friend Joe Rawson and family. As always, Joe brought some of his great handiwork: a boat he built from scratch and this amazing water slide on the side of the hill. He stuck a giant pump in the water on the other side of the hill and strung it up to the top of the hill so there would always be lots of water running down the slide they fabricated out of an old billboard canvas. It was a blast!

A ward friend, Brother Berteaux, took Zach and Lincoln out for a day trip all over Lake Mead.

Another great trip was our Pine Valley trip. We invited Tim and Dallas as well as Camrin and Brandon. Camrin only came up for one day, but we all had so much fun in the cooler weather. We went on our customary hike by the reservoir. We played a lot of The Great Dalmuti, soccer, and tag. We also ate great food and talked, a lot! It was a great chance to reconnect with family!
While we were at Pine Valley, we snuck up to Duck Creek to spend a night and enjoy some time with the Shamo side! Something about being up in the mountains always calms me. I breathe more deeply and can't take my eyes off the scenery. We tent-camped this time, since we only stayed one night, and for the kids, that may have been the highlight of the trip!
