I've been sending letters to Lincoln each week. They are a pretty good summary of what we've been up to, so I think I'll start using them to keep the blog updated for a while.
August 31st,
Hi Lincoln!
We miss you! Just wanted to get that out there. But we also love and are excited for you!
Yesterday, I filled out your missionary deferment application for BYU and set up a guest account for myself so I can manage your BYU student account for you while you are away. It will also allow me to help you register for classes and set up your student housing while you are out so you'll be all set to start up Fall 2027. I haven't made any decisions for you yet, so I'll be sure to keep you in the loop when that comes. Additionally, when we get closer, I'll be happy to put in a FAFSA application and some scholarship applications for you (provided I don't have to write the essay for you, of course.)
Things are going well at home. Gwen is enjoying driving, sharing a car with Dad. Dad and I went to look at a Tesla Model Y with a psychedelic wrap on it. We thought that if we bought it, we could name it "Psych" or "Shawn Spencer". (We thought you might like that- almost as much as Westy). We didn't like it enough, though, so we probably won't be getting it. Other than that, still no extra car. It's difficult to purchase something you don't have a real need for since Dad and I can both ride our bikes to work.
Emma came to stay with us this weekend, as her parents are out of town and she didn't want to miss school. It's been fun having 5 kids in the house again. Ned is steadily improving in tennis, working hard to learn how to serve from either hand. Nyle and West often come along and play tennis as well so they're both getting pretty good.
Dad is going to coach West and Nyle in soccer again this fall. It was just going to be West because we thought maybe he was too small to play in the league above like he usually does, then we discovered that City of Henderson combined both age groups anyway due to low enrollment in the older age division. Once we learned that, Zach called and paid for Nyle to be placed on the team. Your Dad is such a great soccer coach!
The weather dropped just a little, so we're all getting so excited for some fall weather soon. August was such a brutally hot month!
