What's New?

It seems like Lincoln has been changing so much over that last week or so. It's crazy how things can seem the same for so long and suddenly you look and realize that a lot has changed.

I have been trying to teach Lincoln a few words in sign so I could communicate with him and he had no interest forever and finally about a week ago he decided he would start saying "more". Well, once he learned that word I decided he was ready for some more so he's since learned "milk" and "all done". It's so great! He doesn't do them perfectly, but at least we're actually communicating now.

Lincoln has also started dancing to music more. He has this Elmo book that has buttons to push for different sounds and one of the buttons plays a little song that Lincoln will dance to. It looks like he's marching, more than dancing, but really, with parents like us who have absolutely no dancing skills whatsoever, it's dancing. Zach and I also laugh about how clumsy he seems. He's always falling over. And I know that he's just a baby who's been walking for just a couple of months now, but it's still kind of funny when he runs into things because he wasn't looking or falls over just after getting up. I guess I never realized how hard it was to learn to walk. Perhaps he's so clumsy because he's always trying to run everywhere now, instead of walk.

"Dancing"

He's down to one nap a day *sigh* in which I have the time to practice the piano, teach piano, iron, sweep and mop, go on the computer, or talk on the phone. These are all things that he makes very difficult to do when he's awake. I try to maximize my time, but sometimes I'm so tired, I end up sitting at the computer for too long, looking at other's blogs or looking on Craig's List for things we need (even though I never buy).

Asleep at his high chair with guacamole all over his face

Lincoln's also getting to the point where he's so bored at home, I try to get him out each day. Sometimes we go to the park or pool, sometimes the Library, or just on errands. I'm excited for the weather to cool down so we can take more walks again.

On a different happy note, Zach has been doing a great job as the bread-winner in our home and just earned a big promotion at work. He wasn't sure if he wanted me posting this, but I thought, well, I'll just put it inconspicuously in a post. He was considered an assistant civil engineer at work and would never let me tell people he was a civil engineer because that wasn't his official title. But, now it is. His mentor/sort-of-boss was promoted a month back, leaving a void in his position and now Zach has filled it. This means he has more projects that are his alone to oversee. His bosses seem very pleased with him and we're so proud of him here! As we were reflecting on this promotion, we realized that this is a direct blessing from our Heavenly Father. It was a great sacrifice with having me stay home, no more double income(as many of you know what that's like), but we knew it was the right thing to do so we did it happily. We can easily see through this that our Father in Heaven desires to bless us if we just follow His commandments and do what He asks. How grateful and humbled we are!

Lincoln is so cute, and that is great about Zach's job. Congrats to him.

Signing is really helpful. I'm glad that Lincoln has gotten a couple of signs down. One nap is kind of hard, but it does free up more time in the day to run arrands without worrying about naptimes twice a day. CONGRATULATIONS ZACH!! That is really exciting!

I am so happy for you Zach!!! Nikki kind of told me that you were going in for an interview. She said oops...I wasn't suppose to say anything, what was I thinking. I haven't asked but now I know and well, I am way excited for you guys. :)
You aren't kidding when you say Lincoln is growing up fast. What a cute boy. Pretty soon he will be able to teach a little sister all his cool tricks. :)

That's awesome. It is nice as a wife to see that others recognize the hard work your husband does. That's great.

You are now at my favorite toddler stage. I love when they start talking. The majority of the whining stops because they can finally tell you just what they want. I love it. It only gets better from now on!
