Look at those chipmunk cheeks on Gwen! Oh-so kissable!
As manifested by my rapid decline in blog posts, I'm still adjusting to being the mom of two children. Blogs have been one of the first things to go as I've strived to maintain a life similar to the one I had before Gwen came. What' funny is that Gwen is really a super-easy baby. But, she is a real baby and as such she does need to eat every three hours. This means that while she's eating, Lincoln is undoing all the cleaning I had done while not nursing. Then, after I nurse Gwen, I try to clean up again all in time to nurse Gwen again. It's vicious cycle. Add on to that that Lincoln is just now getting over a cold he's had for over a week that he gave to myself and Gwen. However, through all of this, I'm optimistic that I will develop a routine that I'm comfortable with soon enough. Each day gets a little less chaotic, for the most part. And, in the past I have tended to be a person who thrived on the busy life. Maybe I'm just not busy enough yet.
Because I should, here's an update on our family:
Zach is busy with two classes this semester after work. He's actually getting some good use out of one of his classes in particular. He has some very different political views than all of his classmates as well as professor for one of his classes. Hopefully it won't get him into trouble because as many of you know, he's not one to be shy about his viewpoints or beliefs. That's one of the many things I love about him and something I'm definitely not good about myself.
Awwwww......
Lincoln is starting to communicate a LOT more. He's also understanding a ton and Zach and I are realizing that we need to be careful about the example we are setting. He learned about Jesus a while back and now gets excited any time he sees anything that has to do with Him. We love that! He's become such a daddy's boy and is his daddy's little lamb whenever Zach's home.
Gwen is starting to smile more and is nearly 10 pounds now! She's also pretty tall for her age (22 1/2 inches). It's amazing how much these little ones can grow in such a short amount of time. She still sleeps and eats well, but is now trying to get over a little cough.
I've started up piano again after a month break right after Gwen was born. I'm also contemplating signing up for a 5k to get me to run a little faster than the pre and post-partum shuffle I've been doing for a while. I'm REALLY looking forward to warmer weather- I really do belong here. AND, I love being a mom and wife in my family!

Colds are the worst! They have been going around my house all winter, along with ear infections and the flu. I am really starting not to like winter! I love the picture of your hubby with Gwen. I love those tender moments when Dave has time to cuddle with our babies! I hope you all feel better soon!
I am always surprised at how hard it is for awhile there when a new one is added to the mix. It does get better! You are sure to get it faster than I ever was. You are so optimistic and having Lincoln communicating more will make it so much easier. Hang in there.
your such a great mom! we missed seeing you yesterday. i was so happy zach and lincoln showed up at mom and dad's house. we were all talking about what a good job you do with your kids. hopefully you guys all get feeling back to normal soon. it is the pits having sick kids and even worse when the mommy ends up catching it.
Two kids is a major adjustment, but you look like a PRO! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
Wow, you've got your hands full! I had an inkling that the blog-slow-down had to do with some of this :). So great to hear about your sweet little family, and I hope you get to sleep every once in a while!
I feel your pain - don't you hate the messes that are made during nursing sessions? I was glad to find you and glad to see you have a blog. What a couple of cuties you have! I will be back here often.
Gwen is SO sweet!
