What's gotten me excited this month?
Zach's graduation from grad school! He's all done! Now, he's a double engineer! Meaning, he has a bachelor's and a master's in Civil Engineering. I'm pretty sure I'm more excited about him being done than he is. I love that he doesn't have to go to school after work anymore and when he's home, he doesn't have to lock himself in the office to do homework.
And how does he plan on celebrating? He wants to get a road bike pretty bad, specifically this one. We're just waiting for the right deal to come around. Knowing Zach, it'll happen. He has a way of getting what he wants.
Lincoln is not potty trained yet, nor was I even planning on doing anything about it until I wean Gwen, which isn't for a while. BUT, he went #2 on the potty the other day. Talk about random! I was completely shocked! I think it was all about timing. I told him I was going t
o go potty and he said he wanted to go too. Normally, he just sits on his potty for a while, then gets up without having done anything, but this time he got up and he'd done his business. I loved it b/c when he goes, he usually only goes once a day, so I didn't have to change a poopy diaper at all that day. He has successfully used the potty only one time since for #1(right after I took this picture) and I knew that's how it would be, but it's got me thinking that maybe he's getting ready. That is certainly something I have NOT been looking forward to.
Gwen is not crawling yet, BUT she's getting close. She scoots to wherever she wants to go and she gets up on her knees frequently. I'm sure it's only a matter of time and then I'll have to keep my eyes on TWO swift-moving children.
It's a new school year so I have a couple more piano students again. I'm not taking lessons anymore :(. I
ended those last May with my last recital. I couldn't get quality practice time in with two kids so I couldn't see the point in paying for lessons anymore--since I know lessons are nothing without practice time. But, now that Gwen is sleeping better I'm able to practice a little more and have started working on some Rachmaninoff (Prelude in C sharp minor, Serenade, Barcarolle in Gm) for fun. (I got the book as a gift back in college and am just working my way through it) I'm also learning a bit about sewing and I'm really enjoying it. I've made a skirt for myself, a dress for Gwen and some pants for Lincoln. They're not all that impressive, thus the lack of pictures, but I'm learning.

Wow! You 4 have accomplished a ton this month! Congrats to Zack on his masters. He definitely deserves a new bike! Its nice that he wants an exercise device...Cameron got his motorscooter as a "graduation gift" to prevent buying a bike :). I am so impressed with your piano playing even with two kids, and other fantastic hobbies.
Congrats Zach!!! Also, when kids decide to potty train themselves, its heavenly. That is what my little boy did. It was fantastic. Glad you had a great month.
Congrats Brother! I'm so happy for you. Nikki and the kids will love all the extra time you will have. Hope you find a bike fast. :)
Hooray for Lincoln. Going potty in the potty chair is a big step. Hopefully he will stick with it. Changing dirty diapers gets worse the older they get.
Love the post! :)
Yippie!!!!!!!! Congrats to all of you. That is SO NICE that he finished his masters and will be able to spend more time at home and with the family. It is always great to hear great things!
Congratulations Zach! That is awesome! Potty training is no fun! Once he is ready it will go quickly. Gwen is too cute!
