Death Valley

The last weekend in March, the Shamo family all caravaned to Death Valley. We'd heard that the flowers had been blooming down there and this time of year was the best time to go. None of us had ever been so we decided to take a day trip down there. We got some great pictures and had a picnic down at a grassy place in a place called Furnace Creek (I think) which was about 180 feet below sea level. I was surprised with how warm it was down there. I can see how the place could be insanely hot there in the middle of the summer. Even though it was warm, it was an absolutely beautiful day. It was a long drive, but there was good company. Although, we didn't see any flowers.

We discovered the most beautiful desert flowers were actually blooming close to home. Zach picked up these flowers from the desert one day on the way home from work.

Dan and I were just talking about how we don't take advantage of the cool spots around us. I've never been there, but I've heard good things. Looks like I need to check it out!
