Sewing and Life!

Now that Lincoln doesn't take naps most of the time, any time he does (which is very rare), I have a giant list of things to do while he's asleep. Blogging rarely makes that list.
So there, that's my excuse for not blogging as much as I used to. Now, while Gwen sleeps and Lincoln is still awake, I'll rest a little with him while we watch a short movie, then sometimes we'll do a craft, or work on our numbers, counting, or some other fun thing. The one-on-one time is really nice and very important to Lincoln.
I've mentioned a few times on here that I have a friend who I sew with every week and we just barely finished our wall-hangings (yea!). I was really nervous with how it would turn out, but I think I like the completed product. The quilting isn't the best, I used a quilting foot on my sewing machine to speed things up and it doesn't look as good as hand-quilting, but it was a good learning-experience.

I had some left-over material so I decided to make a patriotic skirt for Gwen and had a lot of fun doing it. It was so quick and easy to do that I decided to make a shirt for her as well and used one of Zach's old, worn-out church shirts.

The kids are growing-up fast. Lincoln has been potty-training this week. We've decided to just put him in underwear and let him learn the natural consequences of using or not using the potty. I had to prepare myself mentally for this for a while, but I think it's the best method for him and it's actually not that bad. I try not to remind him to use the potty because I want him to be completely independent on the matter, and I also don't lecture him when he doesn't make it. I've seen a lot of improvement, but we're still not completely there yet. I know there are about a thousand and one different potty-training methods out there, but this is the one that jived with me and seemed best for Lincoln.
Gwen is just as cute as ever, if not cuter because she talks in her cute little voice (just single-words) and sings all the time in her quasi-English. She'll sing anywhere and everywhere. She is so pleasant and independent. Lincoln adores her now. Last weekend while he was out with Zach on some errands, all he could talk about was "where's Gwen?" "what's Gwen doing?" and as soon as he came home, he found her and gave her a big hug. He may adore her, but it doesn't keep him from teasing and taking stuff from her while she shrieks at him. I guess they are siblings after-all.

Well, Lincoln's still awake and needing some entertaining so I better end this already too-long post. Hopefully it won't take me as long to get back to posting.

I agree, you did an awesome job on your quilt and Gwen's clothes. Super cute! Hang in there with the potty training. It is a pain, but SO worth it when it is over.
