Lake Mead in the Spring

Our neighbor Jim has been so kind to take us out on the lake on his boat a few times.  When he purchased a brand new wave runner, he was eager to show it to us so we went out with him to try it out.

The water was a bit chilly.  In fact, in our first visit out to the lake for the season, Ned got right out in the water and knee boarded.  It was cold, but he stayed out long enough to get some good knee boarding in.  When he finished West was anxious to get a turn so he quickly jumped into the water when Ned was done.  Unfortunately, he wasn't prepared for how cold the water was.  He jumped in and the shock of the temperature made him seize up.  He started screaming that he couldn't breathe and was kind of floating away from the boat.  We were trying to get him to grab the knee board rope, but he was panicking too much.  Lincoln was his hero and jumped in to bring him back to us.  We were all so grateful for his selfless act!

Even with the cold water, Gwen jumped in which made all the other boys jump in as well.

The second time we went out, the kids got more brave and spent more time in the water.

The water was clear and smooth.  Jim let us all try a ride on his wave runner.  It was a great way to spend a Saturday!
