West Turns 7

West turned 7! His birthday marks 4 years living in this house since he turned 3 the day after we moved into our home.  West requested his customary crepes for breakfast.

And pizza puffs for dinner.

West and his brothers have been riding their bikes to school every single day this year.  West only got a ride to school one stormy day throughout the entire year.  His bike has held up pretty well, but he needed a new helmet.

We decided to pull West out of school for his birthday and take him to one of our favorite places to eat- Freddy's.  Gwen was able to come along because she earned a Superior with Honors score at Junior Festival earlier in the month.

What we love about 7-year-old West:
  • West is so sweet.  He may be the baby of the household, but he doesn't live up to the stereotype of being the boss.  He is so sweet and kind and we often have to quiet everyone else down so he can have a voice.  He is so kind to everyone!
  • West is very hardworking.  He has been working hard all year to achieve straight A's.  He is consistent with getting his homework and reading done.  He also works so hard on the piano and is improving at such a rapid pace!
  • West moves at his own speed.  We have learned that it's very difficult to rush him.  He is usually the last to finish eating and likes to ride his bike at his own leisurely pace.  He doesn't get ruffled when others try to speed him up, he just ignores them and continues at his own pace. We love him for this quiet stubborn way!
  • West is a good friend.  Recently, Zach took West to a birthday party for one of West's classmates and West was someone everyone wanted to play with and it's easy to see why.  He's so kind and easy-going.  He makes a very quick friend to anyone.
  • He loves being the baby of our family!  In church one Sunday, his teacher sent me this text message: "West was so cute today.  We were talking about the resurrection and perfect bodies.  He said he hopes his perfect body is a baby. 'Because my mom loves babies' he was so adorable!!!"  Yes, he is adorable.  We all love this kid so much.  Lincoln still tries to cuddle him regularly, but at least now asks West's permission before attempting to give him a hug.  Sometimes West says yes. ;)
