December 2010

December was a doozy of a month! It flew by before I even knew what had happened!

Here are some of the things that happened that month:

*Our ward was re-organized the last Sunday in November, shaking things up quite a bit in our ward-making it larger-of all things.

*We tried to do some of the usual festive things, read Christmas stories, watch movies, decorating, baking, visiting Christmas sights and friends that had just been re-organized out of our ward.

*I got a call from the Bishop asking to meet with both Zach and I early one Sunday morning--I assumed to be released from my calling which I'd had for nearly 4 years(I'm not complaining- I loved it!)Instead he issues me the calling of Primary President--I promptly told him I'd do it-but that I was not the leader type-more the supporter type--that didn't change his mind. It's kept me real busy ever since.

*Later that week we were hit with sicknesses. The stomach flu-I got hit first, Lincoln just 12 hours later, then Zach a week later. Strangely, Gwen never got it. Then the kids came down with the never-ending cold that attacked all their mucous glands. Gwen did however exhibit some nasty-looking Eczema for the first time. I'd never seen Eczema like that--fortunately my sister stepped in to help with some of her herbal remedies and she's doing great now!

*We had the usual Sunday-before-Christmas program I had the privilege of accompanying. It was a cantata based off Handel's Messiah--a lot of fun to play because I got to play large-loud chords often.

*Then, of course Christmas Eve and Day festivities. New Year's Eve festivities were cancelled because the flu had just hit my side of the family--the people we were going to celebrate with.

With all the sicknesses and other items to keep me busy--I must say I'm grateful for many things. 1. We got much of the sicknesses over with before this baby comes-hopefully it's all out of our systems and we can be healthy after this baby comes. 2. Since we've been so busy it's kept my mind off this last month of pregnancy--Actually, I think I've been very blessed-much the same way the women of Nephi's family were blessed. Since receiving my new calling, this pregnancy has been much easier to bear as were the pregnancies and births of the women of Nephi's family in the wilderness--the Lord is very merciful! 3. My great kids and great husband! They've been so good to me this crazy month--I couldn't ask for a better family!

Now, just because, here are some random December pictures we took:
