July events began with the Fourth, where we went to my brother's house to christen his new swimming pool on his birthday. Even though it rained that day, everyone spent a ton of time in the pool. There are so many of us Shamo's now that it truly was a generous offer to have us over for a pool party.
After the pool party, we had a firework viewing party at my parent's house, as their upstairs deck is perfect for watching the Boulder firework show.
Such a busy and great day for celebrating the birth of this great nation!
The week following the fourth found us up in Pine Valley, at least the kids and I. We joined my older sister, sister-in-law, parents and grandma. We apparently picked the perfect time to go because supposedly, the heat in Vegas reached up to 119 degrees. While it was warm up in Pine Valley, it was no where near as hot as Vegas. And, we were blessed with an abundance of beautiful storm clouds that would sometimes only threaten rain, and other times deliver it.
We watched a fire begin and end on the mountainside at one end of the valley. It was fun to watch the helicopter drop water on it.
We went for lots of walks.
Ned had me take him to see the cows in the field across from the cabin every day.
We helped my dad do some work around the cabin.
We let the kids play all day long with their cousins, outside.
We saw a huge Gardner snake slither through the yard.
We let the boys run through the sprinklers in the yard.
We had fun chatting in the evenings and during the hottest part of the day out on the porch.
We slept with the windows open.
We escaped the heat and took a break!
