He's here! He had to be coaxed out-late Friday night. I was scheduled for an induction (for the second time-they forgot to tell me the first time they scheduled me several days earlier). They started giving me pitocin at about 9pm, got an epidural about about 11pm, they broke my water at about 2am and Ned Reuven arrived at 3:45am, January 22. He was 8lbs 0oz, 20 inches long. He's perfect and very sweet!
Thus far, my recovery and adjustment to 3 kids has been easier than my recovery and adjustment after having Gwen. Lincoln and Gwen adore him! Gwen is a little more emotional since his arrival, but Lincoln could not be any more of a doting big brother!
A funny little anecdote for the records:
Wednesday we took Ned in for his circumcision and while we were waiting in the lobby, Zach explained in kid terms what was going to happen to Ned. Lincoln was very concerned and when the nurse called for Ned, Lincoln was quick out of his seat to accompany us to see the doctor. The plan had been for him to stay with Zach and Gwen in the waiting room, but Lincoln really wanted to be there for his little bro. Since Lincoln is a pretty good little boy, I told Zach it was okay if Lincoln came with us. When we got into the office, Lincoln kept patting Ned's head and saying "It's okay, buddy". After Ned was anesthetized and ready for his circumcision, Lincoln really wanted to watch and be close to Ned, but there was no room for him to be that close so I positioned him out of the way, but in a place where he could watch. Then I went over to hold Ned's hands during the procedure. When I next looked over to where I had positioned Lincoln, he wasn't there! He'd climbed under the nearby chair, curled up in a ball on his knees with his hands covering his ears and his eyes squeezed shut! He couldn't bear to watch- or even listen!
I just commented to the dr. and med student present, "hmm, I guess he didn't want to watch." They both looked over and busted up laughing.
And Ned? He was oblivious to everything and just looked around during the whole procedure, not even making one peep! I was grateful for successful anesthesia and a caring big brother who had wanted to be there for his littl bro.- even if he was a little too scared.
