West’s Birthday

Birthday Boy at Breakfast

West is lucky to have his birthday fall during Spring Break so we always get to slow down and enjoy it.

He is so excited about his grippy football gloves and light-up football

Some things we love about 9-year-old West:

  •     West is so much fun!  He has such a great personality.  I call him mini-Zach.  He is so much like him--looks, hair, love for sports, personality.  This year, he had strong opinions about his birthday choices.  His ideas were unique.  For breakfast, he wanted french toast casserole,  for dinner, he wanted Thai Peanut Noodles (which I thought was odd since the kids almost always choose a meat-heavy meal for their Birthdays and this one is meatless.) And for his dessert, he wanted donuts.
  • West is hard-working. He achieved straight-A's, but it didn't come easy.  He had to work for those grades and was always asking his teacher or mom to check his grades for him.
  • West is energetic.  Last fall, he was on a soccer team with Nyle.  Even though he was at least 2 years younger than all his team members and opponents, he was often the first one to the ball and not afraid to insert himself.  One time he asked his coach if they would be running and his coach said "you're just a little bunny that loves to run!"  It's true- he's always running and he always has a smile on his face when he does.
  •  West is still adored by his oldest brother.  Often I have to keep Lincoln from hugging him too tightly as he still thinks West is so cute!

West is the biggest sports fan in our house.  He knows names of players and stats that no one else knows.  One time when he was trying to describe what someone looked like to his siblings he said: "She looks like a female version of the kicker from the (specific) football team."  We busted up laughing that, of course, he describes someone from the frame of some sport.  We were all puzzled about who he was talking about and had to look the said kicker up to see that he was actually spot-on!
